Günther Steiner signed Nico Hülkenberg for Mick Schumacher in the '23 F1 season. One reason he gave was that Mick crashed often. The repair costs were preventing the Haas F1 team from developing the car during the season. This was untenable in the cost-cap era of Formula 1.
That begs the question: how much does an F1 car actually cost?
The F1 Authentics website sells F1 show cars. A show car is a Formula 1 car without the engine and gearbox. These are used for car launches and marketing displays. These shell cars can cost anywhere between 200,000 and 5 million USD depending on the type of car, etc.
Another great way to estimate the cost of a modern Formula 1 car is to find a car that is closest to an F1 car. Its the RB 17 car by Red Bull Racing. This car costs $6.4 million and is a good estimate of a F1 car.
A cheaper alternative to owning an F1 car is owning a racing simulator. This, is even better than owning an F1 car. Why? Because this is the only realistic way normal people can experience driving an F1 car.
These simulators are available between $110k and $200k. They are as authentic as they can get. You get to drive race tracks, experience the thrill of driving an F1 car.
A Formula 1 car costs anywhere between 5 and 15 million USD. Alternatives to a car such as simulator costs between 100k and 200k USD.
